NELSON COLLEGE RUGBY NEWS

It has been a busy week with both the Marlborough Boys' College Exchange and Timaru Boys' High School visiting us. The exchange went really well with some good games played across the different events. Nelson College managed to get 8 wins out of 9 events so that is a very positive result. Thank you to Marlborough who came over and represented their school superbly and competed really well. 

Results:

  • Rugby 1st XV - win 33-7 (Whangamoa Trophy retained)
  • Rugby 2nd XV - win 27-12
  • Rugby U15A - win 41-31
  • Football 1st XI - win 4-0 (National Qualifier win)
  • Football Juniors - win 3-0
  • Basketball A Team - win 79-57
  • Basketball Juniors - win 70-65
  • Hockey 1st XI - win 4-0
  • Hockey Juniors - lost 0-3

 

Shirley Boys' Winter Sports Exchange 

We have our annual sports exchange coming up on the 19th & 20th June at Shirley Boys' High School with 8 teams travelling to this. The boys will be billeted for this event keeping alive the great connection we have with Shirley. Please come along and support our boys if you are in Christchurch!

1st XV News

The 1st XV have had a great week with two wins over Marlborough Boys' College (37-7) and Timaru Boy's High School (58-10) keeping us firmly at the top of the table. Well done to the team and the coaching staff. 

Marlborough Boy's scorers:

Tries to Oliver Gibbons, Sione Mafi, Callum Robertson, Teina Thompson & Dane Leppien. Zyon Ford added 3 conversions.

Timaru Boys' scorers:

Tries to Sione Mafi (2), Oliver Kirk, Saumaki Saumaki, Liam McKenzie, Dane Leppien, Finn Kilworth, Samiuela Moimoi, Blake Craddock & Kaelan Grafton. Conversions to Zyon Ford (2) & Kaelan Grafton (2).

Next Game: 11:00am vs. Selwyn Combined Schools on the front field this Saturday. Please get along if you can to support them!

 

Concussion Baseline Testing in Nelson - 15th June!

Concussions happen in Rugby but understanding normal function level (your baseline) while you are healthy, means we can get you back doing what you love quickly and reduce the risk of long-term damage.

Old Boys Death

Nelson College Rugby would like to send our condolences to the family of Peceli Loyawa who passed away in Fiji recently. He was a member of our 1st XV in 2000-2001 and coached by Peter Grigg. Our thoughts are with his family.
