Welcome to this week's newsletter!
News
- This Sunday we are holding the Paekakariki Road Race as an informal club race. Details below.
- Trophies - please return any trophies you won last year as soon as possible in preparation for this season's prizegiving. Either bring them along to Paekakariki this Sunday or drop off at Bryn's (18 Ruad Road, Paraparaumu Beach).
- Next relay event is the Marton to Whanganui Relay on 14 September. Get involved and let me know if you're keen.
- Club hoodies and caps - amazingly these haven't sold out yet (as far as I know). Head to the online shop before they do!
- Singlet amnesty - If you have previously borrowed a club singlet for interclub relays or any other reason and you still have it, please get in touch to arrange to return it, preferably washed. No questions asked.
- The winter club programme is on our website here. Print it out, stick it on your fridge and get along to as many events as possible!
- You can register with the club online now. You can still get soooo much from a club membership this season!
- The Caroline Boyd Memorial Run/Walk is taking place on 22 September. Details at the bottom of this newsletter.
Race results
- Erin McKevitt was our sole representative at the Wellington Road Race Champs in Wainuiomata on Saturday. Well done Erin! Full results here.
- We also held the final event in our Winter Off-road Series at Waikanae Park on Sunday. Results here and some photos here.
- Please let me know if you've taken part in an event (preferably before Wednesday) so it can be included in the newsletter (we do really like to celebrate performances).
Upcoming eventsClub and interclub events (see our club calendar for more)
- Sunday 1 September - Paekakariki Road Race.
Venue is Paekakariki Memorial Hall.
We will hold a 10km (approx) race on the Paekakariki RR circuit. The second lap will omit the loop in the park to bring it closer to 10km, so competitors will turn left after the grass section instead of right.
The race will be an open handicap start and will incorporate the Paremata Handicap trophies.
Walkers: Any walkers wishing to do the 10km can start at 8.35am. I'm presuming they will start in a group. Walkers doing 5km can start at 9.10am.
The first 10km runners will start at 9.10am.
Any 5km runners away at 9.30 approx.
Morning tea in the hall after. A small contribution/plate welcome.
Sunday 8 September - Club run - TBA
Saturday 14 September - Marton to Whanganui Relay. Let me know soon as if you're keen to run.

Club membership
- We are always keen to attract new members. You can join online here. Our membership flyer is here. If you want to know what else you get from membership of an Athletics NZ affliated club, check out the member benefits here. In addition, you will receive heavily discounted entry (or even free entry) at the majority of our club events, discounted squad fees, be able to run at inter-club events and be eligible for representative teams. We are affliated to Triathlon NZ and have a number of keen triathletes (and accredited coaches) in the club. We also have a number of social functions throughout the year. If you want to train and compete with the club, you can join us here. Any questions, ask one of our friendly committee members.
Other stuff
- Call for newsletter items - if you want some company to train with, you've got a flash new bike and want to sell your old steel workhorse or you've just smashed your half marathon PB (or anything else that might be newsworthy) let us know for inclusion in the next newsletter.
