SPOTLIGHT ON ............................

                                SPOTLIGHT ON ……………………………Aaron Thompson

The July spotlight has beamed down on a long serving Mt Albert Ramblers personality, who has played, supported and coached within the Club spanning several years.

Let’s welcome to the stage, Aaron Thompson, known by many as “Horse”.

Aaron is a proud Dad of son Sam and daughter Georgia, who both are following in their fathers’ footsteps on the softball diamond.

Both Sam and Georgia were selected in ASA Under 13 teams that attended the Rookie Sox Classic held at Resthills Park, Hamilton in February this year, as well as both children played in their respective gender Under 14 ASA teams at the Easter Classic.

Sam played for Ramblers Under 15 boys team this past season, being awarded the MVP for the team.

Georgia played in the Under 13 girls team, which Aaron co-coached this season.

2005 – Aaron was a member of the Ramblers Premier men’s team that won the AFC (Auckland Fastpitch  Championship) hitting a home run to win the game 2-1 over Northcote.

2007 – Aaron once again featured in the National Club finals, recording 2 hits in the 2 – 1 win over Christchurch United.

The same year he hit 2 home runs against Northcote at the Vic Guth, which Ramblers won 13 runs to 4 with 11 home runs being scored in the game.

2008 – was a member of the team that won the Club National Championships repeating this in 2009 for the teams 3 Peat successive wins.

Aaron continued playing for Mt Albert Ramblers Premier men until 2016, with his last game being against Hutt Valley Dodgers on March 20th.

You can now see “Horse” either on the side of a diamond in the coach’s circle, or on the diamond with the Gentlemen of Ramblers team.

A great softball career for a great role model.

CONGRATULATIONS CORNER

CONGRATULATIONS to  Ruby Nola who has had an amazing experience overseas at Kansas City Kansas Community College over the last two seasons. She has capped off her outstanding season with a Golden Glove Award in the NJCAA level.
We are so proud of you and all your achievements, see you back in NZ!
Ramblers has a great connection with KCKCC as Nerida Elson and Georgia Faunt have also done 2 years previously in the program.
