NEWSLETTER JANUARY 2024

JANUARY 2024-   As we say goodbye to 2023 - we now say HELLO to 2024.

Many of you will have holidays during this month, if so hope you enjoy your time with family, friends and maybe newly made friends.

For those travelling, whether by road, water or skies, please travel safe, buckle up and enjoy the ride.

For those “beach bunnies”, stay safe in the water and don't let those waves tip you over and scrape your knees or legs, grazes can hurt, which one of our Committee can tesify to!                                   No names mentioned in this story.

To all the younger members of the Club, hope Santa fulfilled your requests, if not, ask again next year, his sleigh may have been overloaded this year.

BLAST FROM THE PAST

                                               BLAST FROM THE PAST

Who are these ladies?   Familiar faces??? Cast your mind back to 2017 when .                                                    this photo was snapped.

SPOTLIGHT ON ............................

                                SPOTLIGHT ON  …………………………………….DEBBIE TOWNLEY

It’s the month of New Year celebrations and new year resolutions, so who better for the Spotlight to fall on but “Miss Social Butterfly” herself.

It is our own Debbie Townley nee Graham.

Born in Waitakere, Auckland, attending Kaurilands Primary, Konini Primary, Glen Eden Intermediate and Kelston Girls', Debbie is a loyal “Westie”.

Debbie commenced playing softball at the age of 8 for Ramblers, also played for both Waitakere Bears and Eden Roskill. Her playing position was 3rd base with shortstop her secondary position.

Debbie bats and throws right-handed, when asked her height, her reply was shorter than everyone else.

  • Debbie’s softball achievements are various.
  • Auckland Representative up to U/19's.
  • Played Premier Grade for Ramblers.
  • Secretary & Treasurer of Ramblers.
  • Grade 6 NZ Scorer.
  • Ramblers Life Member since 2019.
  • Coach/Manager/Scorer of Ramblers, Auckland, NZ Emerging Sox and Waikato Teams.
  • Named Softball NZ Personality of the Year in 2019.

Debbie is also very active with Netball in Auckland, can be seen on the courts coaching and umpiring.

Debbie’s current employment is with Auckland Plumbers Group where she is employed as a Workflow Coordinator.

In her spare time Debbie likes to catch up with family & friends. Support softball and netball teams. Teach people how to score.

Her game Philosophy is to have fun, don't be late, put in the effort and you will see the results.

Always have a Plan A, B, & C.

Debbie tells me her favourite food is a roast dinner with the 80’s her favourite type of music.

Debbie has a few role models in her life, naming Mum, Dad, Lynnette Leathart, Lil Natana and Christine Nukunuku. Her comment is “what Lynnette, Lil and Christine do with scoring is amazing”.

Debbie would like to visit America so she could go to a Major League Baseball Game.

Debbie’s final comment is “the greatest reward is giving back to our sport and seeing other people achieve amazing things as players and scorers”.

Debbie loves life and lives it to the fullest, hence the “Miss Social Butterfly” title.

A true inspiration to others to live life to the fullest.
