Kia ora koutou,

In many ways it feels like the last season just ended and in others it seems a long time since we gathered as a community.

The off season is always a busy time both at centre and club level and 2023 to 2024 was no different. We are thrilled to have the appointment of Trinity as our new Centre Coordinator and trust that we will all make her a very welcome part of our community. I know that Trinity, Laura and all of our centre coordinators have been working very hard to get the 2024 season ready and this is evident through the significant number of events currently running.

The board has been supporting the development of the Lincoln Sport and Recreation Hub and it is exciting to see it becoming a reality with a board currently being appointed and we look forward to the opportunities it will provide to us all.

Funding is always a fairly unsexy but vitally essential part of our organisation and I would like to thank those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to secure this resource for us. On this particular note, I would like to thank Leigh and Greg Ayers at Advanced Joinery for the many, many years of support they have given and wish them all the very best in their next adventures.

We look forward to further cementing the work that has resulted in our restructure and ensuring the competitions area is functioning well is a major focus for 2024. More information will be coming out to members in the coming weeks and we hope that this is an area some of you may like to be involved in.

I look forward to reconnecting with you all at the courts soon.

Ngā mihi,

Andrea James

Centre Coordinator

We are looking forward to the 2024 Netball season at Selwyn Netball Centre! I am Trinity, your new Centre Coordinator and I am super excited to be part of such an amazing and passionate Centre! Although my background is not primarily in Netball I am a massive sports enthusiast, I have a background in equestrian sports. I have a bit of general background in business management, marketing and coaching/teaching. I am super passionate about the impact clubs and centres have in sports and their athletes and ensuring the next generation of athletes have opportunities for growth and that centres like ours foster and support them wherever it takes them in life! I am excited to kick off the season as we have been busy preparing and planning behind the scenes for a compelling season ahead

Lastly, our Coach Collective and Preseason Training are set to further empower our coaches and players, demonstrating our dedication to fostering excellence on and off the court at Selwyn Netball Centre.

FutureFERNS Facilitator Training

Thank you and congratulations to Kerry Brovelli (Prebbleton) and Naomi Sutton (Rolleston) for attending the two Facilitator training sessions delivered over the last two Monday evenings.  It is fantastic to increase our Facilitator capacity within the Year 1-8 space and we look forward to having these two ladies involved in our coach workshops this season.
We have been fortunate to have both of these ladies involved in our Year 1-4 futureFERNS program over the last few years as Junior Coordinators for their clubs.  Well done ladies!!!
