Kia ora koutou katoa,

Welcome back to term 2. I hope you had the opportunity to spend some time with friends and family over the school holidays and recharge before what is always a very busy term in schools. I feel energised and excited about taking the baton from Leigh in the role of Kaiārahi.

To start, I have booked the first New Careers Advisors Induction Workshop in Auckland for Thursday 6th and Friday 7th June. Please see the registration form below. As many of you will already have done your planning for the year, I am also assessing demand in other regions, so please fill in the expression of interest form if you would like to attend a workshop in Christchurch or Wellington. I am also in the planning stages of delivering PD workshops in each region, continuing the excellent work that Leigh has done.  More details will follow. I look forward to getting out and meeting people kanohi ki te kanohi.

At this time, I would also like to acknowledge and express support for our members in the Ministry or other areas who have lost jobs or are in an uncertain environment. It is not an easy position to be in.  I think I speak for everyone when I say we are thinking of you and hoping for the best possible outcome.

I believe that my mandate is to be here for you, the members of CATE, so please reach out if you have any requests or suggestions of things you would like to see me do in this role, and I will do my best to accommodate these. All the best for the start of term 2!

Ngā mihi,
Tara Heta
