Unfortunately this weekends Manapouri event was cancelled. It does not happen often but considering the weather it was a tough but good call by Fiordland Athletics Club.

This week I want to talk volunteers!!

Volunteers are the lifeblood of Southland Harriers!

Without volunteers, there would be no season and no opportunity for our young and old of all abilities to come together as a community and celebrate our love for the sport that brings us all such joy (with a pinch of pain).

Volunteering also offers a chance to meet new people, contribute to the community, and gain a unique perspective on the sport.

We need volunteers for events and for our committee if you can help out at an event please let us know!!

WANTED: Harriers Club Secretary

Southland Harriers are in need of a Club Secretary. This is a role that was not filled at our AGM this year. This integral role must be filled if Harriers is to carry on past the 2024 winter season. Duties include, attending monthly committee meetings (Feb-November), minutes, agendas and club correspondence. If interested in this role please email:southlandharriers@gmail.com or talk to a committee member at our next event.

The Kartsport Challenge is a new event on the Southland Harriers Calendar. A 5km "road" race around a loop course. Kartsport is a fantastic venue for participators and for spectators and we are aiming for a fast course and festive atmosphere, with lots of cheers and support. 

This event is open to all but will encompass our Southland Harriers 5km champs and to be eligible for Southland Trophies and Medals you will need to belong to a Southland Athletics Club and be an up to date member.

$10.00 for seniors and masters.

$5.00 for Juniors.
