From The Chair
Happy Kings Birthday weekend everyone.
I see it was also our reigning 5km champ Dwight Grieves birthday this weekend. Happy Birthday Dwight, rumor has it he celebrated with a 36km, social run!!
Another reason to celebrate this weekend……. I noted a few familiar names on this years ILT Southland Murihiku Sports Awards 2024 list.
- Coach of the Year: Lance Smith and Shaun Cantwell
- NZME Masters Achievement Of The Year: Dwight Grieve and Gail Kirkman
Best of luck to all of you on June the 9th at the awards night.
I hope that everyone is looking forward to next weekends Miller Killer. Its probably a little bit early to get excited, but the Metvuw forecast is showing clear skies. After 4 rainy weekends I think we deserve some blue skies, so lets all keep our fingers crossed. We have had a few people ask us about the course. Quentin Miller designs the course and likes to keep the course a surprise, but what we can tell you is that Juniors will run around 3.5kms and Seniors 7km. For those wondering about spikes, the best advice is bring a back up pair of cross-country shoes, just in case.
If you are on the fence about the Miller Killer, below are some photos from last year, to convince you this run is not to be missed.
