THE 2024/2025 MAGPIES SOFTBALL SEASON IS UNDERWAY!

It's been a month since our last newsletter whānau, and it has been an action packed goodie!

We packed in some amazing stuff this last month…

Our pre season trainings got underway, official merch dropped, team lists unveiled, first ever jersey presentations and our season kicked off with a bang!

Plus we have just as much excitement to come!

CLUB PRE SEASON TRAININGS

We started off with our Pre Season trainings getting underway & had some awesome turn outs!

Every Tuesday & Friday through the month of September we had a mix of our junior & senior players coming along to get those softball muscles back in action!

Focusing on fundamentals & mechanics, we had sessions covering infield, outfield, hitting & bunting, we were ready to go for October to get into our teams and get our team trainings underway!

A very big ka pai to all our tamariki & rangatahi that attended these trainings, and to our awesome coaches that helped out!

MAGPIES MERCH DROP 2024/2025

Our Official Magpies Merch dropped with a bang!

A massive ngā mihi nui to Alli & her team at Promo X for all their mahi bringing this altogether! They look awesome!

MAGPIES SQUADS 2024/2025

After our registrations closed, teams were formed, trainings kicked off & just before our season got underway - - - we introduced our Magpies Squads for 2024/2025!

We're super proud to have 6 teams for our first ever season as a club! and even more proud to have them filled with the talented players we have, and the whānau that come along with them!

SMSC JERSEY PRESENTATIONS 2024/2025

On Friday 11 October, the evening before our season started, we celebrated our first club players being presented with their playing tops - - the first as a club.

We had an incredible turnout where each of our players, surrounded by whānau and friends, was presented their playing top by someone special to them.

FIRST GAMES OF THE SEASON 2024/2025

Our first games of the season, and first ever games for the club were played on Saturday 12 October with 5 of our 6 teams kicking their seasons off!

Our Artscapes Magpies had a pretty good reason to delay their season start with with one of their own getting married!

Congratulations Zach & Hayley!

Our teams had a banger of a start to the season! The weather played ball, and so did our teams! The day was filled with good skills, good fun & good vibes all round!

MAGPIES PLAYER HIGHLIGHT

This month the our player highlight is on CHARLOTTE FLAWN

Charlotte plays in the Under 15 grade on a Saturday morning with our On Track Magpies Hina softball team

Charlotte comes from a big softball family with both of her Sisters, Dad, Uncle & Cousins all having played too!

Charlotte has represented Otago in softball in the age-grade divisions, and get's back on the diamond after having had an awesome rugby season where she also represented the golden O!
