Twilight Summary
As a reminder, the tournament took place each Wednesday in November and consisted of thirty-two teams of four people, playing two games of bowls each evening, with one extended game on the final night. It was fantastic to see both greens fully occupied, with fun and laughter and general enjoyment observed across the club. We hosted approx. 150 people each evening, which is a tremendous achievement.
The winners were the Bowling Stones led by Phil Payne, closely followed by the Bowl movements and Flatjacks. in 2nd and 3rd place respectively Congratulations to all !!!
There was great support from club members who assisted in all sorts of ways; From setting up the greens and sorting out the bowls to manning the bar and cooking the food, The kitchen team and BBQ Boys did a fantastic job preparing and serving food, while others ensured the smooth sale of raffle tickets, collected glasses, marked scorecards, and worked out the winners, and kept people happy with an ample supply of beverages. In addition our Reserve Bowlers jumped in at the last minute to play for teams that were short of bowlers on the night.
The tournament was a resounding success, with over 160 burgers and 150 sausages sold over the course of the event. Each week, approximately three hundred raffle tickets were sold to our visitors, generating an average of $630 per week in ticket sales. We took over $13,000 across the bar over the 4 weeks and made approximately $6k in profit. For the overall tournament we made approx. $10,500 in profit – a record compared to previous tournaments. This equates to approximately 25% of our club’s total annual profit made last year, and if we can replicate these figures in March, it will be a tremendous achievement. This Profit allows us to continue to invest in the club and improve our facilities, as we grow our membership and role within the local community.
In terms of ongoing improvements, we have digitised the process allowing for online registration and payment, and this meant that we only had 3 people who paid on the night. All other payments were made prior to the event beginning.
In addition we have updated the registration forms for March and already have 14 teams who have pre registered.
From a sponsorship perspective a big Thank you to Comduc who have sponsored our last 2 tournaments and to Brian Perry Civil who have agreed to sponsor our March Tournament which is great news.
Many Thanks to Gary and Jan Boag for helping make sure the transition to a new organising committee, led by Karen and Fiona, was so smooth, enabling us to have a seamless event
Cant wait for March !!!!
