Welcome to The Village Update, brought to you by Petone Engineering We celebrate 140 years of rugby in Petone this weekend! Please find the details for Friday night and the agenda for Saturday below. I know 140 is a little bit of an odd number to commemorate but any excuse to link up with old rugby friends and toast to our club is a good one. Your participation in raffles and the purchasing of PRFC merchandise and the odd beer or two helps secure our game in the Village for future generations, so please get in behind this weekend. We can even start the discussion of our Sesquicentennial 150 year Anniversary in 10 years time! Boy what a night that will be. |

Get tickets for Friday here https://www.sporty.co.nz/viewform/344548 You are also more than welcome to join us on the next day, Saturday 31st of May: "All in After-match". Start the day by wearing your Petone gear (old or new) down at the club from 12pm. Enjoy some savouries and a drink with other Petone Rugby Club members, before heading to the Rec to support our teams and our players against Poneke. Following the rugby, it would be great to see you back at the clubrooms for our usual after-match and make a full day of it! Remind your mates in the comments |

We welcome Pōneke to the rec this Saturday. Might be worth cracking open the good stuff! Caption from Below, 1938 “In no other sport has Petone played so great a part as in, appropriately enough, that of the national game. The Petone Rugby Football Club is, indeed, older than the borough itself, having been founded in 1885 under the leadership of H. S. Fitzherbert, M.H.R, as Patron, W. S. Riddler as Secretary, and G. Carey as Treasurer. In the fifty-four years since then, the club has developed into one of the strongest and finest of its type in the dominion. It has produced many championship teams and given far more than its mere numerical quota to the Wellington and New Zealand Representative sides.” |

It has been a tremendous 2025 for the club so far, thank you to all of our members for the support this season. The Ponies, first round champs, kick things off at the Rec at 11:15am this Saturday and the clubrooms are open from midday. See you all down the club, be sure to drag some old PRFC mates along with ya! Cheers Hack Hayden O'Toole Chair, Petone Rugby Football Club Inc. |
