Kia ora, talofa lava, malo e lelei, kia orana, bula vinaka, fakalofa lahi atu, and hello!
Here is your JUNE 2025 edition of the Sox Nation Insider.
June was a big month for New Zealand softball, packed with team announcements, international action and moments of reflection.
The Under 23 Major Sox training squad was named following confirmation of the WBSC U23 Men’s Softball World Cup in Colombia, April 2026. The selected group marks an exciting new chapter as preparations begin toward the global stage.
Meanwhile, the New Zealand Black Sox made their departure to Canada where they have exhibition games in the leadup to next month's world cup. Opening weekend on tour saw them place runners-up to the Hill United Chiefs in the Peter Hallman Memorial Tournament, gaining valuable experience and momentum ahead of the 2025 WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup which saw the coaching staff able to run combinations and offer experience to those players who have not been competing in the North American or European circuits.
We also continued our popular Flashback Friday series, celebrating the rich history of softball in New Zealand. From iconic players to unforgettable moments, these posts remind us why it's important to honour the past as we build toward the future.
Stay tuned as we continue to follow our teams on their international journeys!
