Welcome to The Village Viewpoint sponsored by Gavin and Cassie Murphy and the team at Gee and Hickton Ltd Funeral Directors, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, and Porirua. A bittersweet weekend last week, The Prem Reserves raised the Harper Lock Shield after an amazing first round campaign, but our Premier side fell short at the Hutt Recreation ground. Given that the bulk of our teams played away it was great to see a full clubrooms on Saturday night! See you again at the club this Saturday for our Premier aftermatch, meal for all, All Blacks v France at 7:05pm and British and Irish Lions v Waratahs at 10:00pm, our english imports Luke and Josh would love if everyone stuck around and added to the atmosphere for the Lions game. |

Our Under 21's went agonisingly close to upsetting top of the table Tawa last saturday, leading till the final seconds. The colts will need their 21's screwed in when they face Ories at the Polo ground tomorrow. The team that can master the conditions will come away with the 'W' in this evenly drawn matchup. |
Our Brotherhood venture out to Ngati Toa Domain to take on Tawa. A win will see them elevated to second on the table. Keep an eye on Kasiano at 10, with his size he can be a bulldozing ball carrier but his silky skills can also unlock his Brotherhood backs on the edges. The boys are a bit light on numbers, if you are keen for a run contact Mateaki 0272337935 |
Our regular season champion B's take on OBU tomorrow in the Ed Chaney Cup Prelim final, 1:00pm Kick off at the Rec. A win gifts them a week off, a loss and they face the winner of Tawa and Upper Hutt next week. The Mannix brothers who answered the call have been a revelation, combing at 8,9. Great to see the veteran Nathan Hermans back in the saddle after a lengthy stint on the sidelines with injury, he will be raring to go. Josh Auvele's scintillating form combined with Josh Styche's experience make for a devastating midfield pairing. Piri Bradshaw will want a pie or 2 before he shoots off to premier duty. |

A huge game for our prems, they will need to flush the McBain heartbreak and look ahead to potential redemption against Pōneke at home this Saturday in a Jubilee cup elimination playoff. See you at the Rec 5 July, 2:45pm KO. The loss against Poneke 4 weeks ago will still be in the back of the boys minds, they will want to right some wrongs from that day. A win and we face the loser of Paremata Plimmerton and Tawa, a loss and we drop down to the Hardham cup bracket and the Jubilee Cup dream is over. All to play for. |
A massive congratulations to Keira Sua-Smith and Justine McGregor, both called up to the Black Ferns XV! Such well deserved selections after a suburb club season and 2025 Sevens circuit respectively. We are picking them to upset the Black Ferns! |
All the best to our Netballers, last game of Round 1 this Saturday. Our Premier Women take on rivals Upper Hutt Maidstone United for the second time this season at 1:00pm. Our B's (Senior 2) - sit atop the Senior 2 table, a win this Saturday will promote them to the Senior 1 grade, which would be an amazing feat in their inaugural season! Outstanding young captains Ella Woollett and Zoe Ferreira have done an exceptional job, leading from the front all winter (their brothers will feature on the Rec Saturday Afternoon) #whanau Kia Kaha, Kia Maia Ladies! |

Club sponsor Gallagher are proud to introduce the Club Kickback initiative, designed to help rugby clubs secure long-term financial support while providing competitive insurance solutions to the businesses that support them. When a referred business appoints Gallagher as their insurance adviser, 15% of the broking fee for the business’s insurance programme will be paid to the club. Even better, the club will continue to receive this fee percentage every year Gallagher manages the insurances. Get in behind it! |
