Here is your JULY 2025 edition of the Sox Nation Insider.
July has been one for the history books – and the highlight reels – as our national softball teams flew the flag proudly across the globe. From thrilling championship runs, to milestone moments, Sox Nation has had plenty to cheer about!
The Black Sox proved once again why they’re one of the world’s premier softball forces, claiming silver at the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup. After a fierce campaign filled with heart, hustle, and signature Kiwi grit, the team came up just short in the final – but not without leaving everything on the diamond. A massive congratulations to the entire squad and coaching staff on an incredible achievement on the world stage.
Meanwhile, the New Zealand White Sox and the Women’s U23 Major Sox made deep runs in the prestigious Canada Cup, with both teams storming into the championship bracket. The tour provided valuable international experience and showcased the depth and determination of our women’s programme. The future is looking fierce! Our next generation of stars were also sharpening their skills and making waves of their own as the Under 15 Developing Sox headed across the Tasman to tour Australia, gaining crucial experience and soaking up the competition. The energy and potential in these young squads is a clear sign that the future of New Zealand softball is in excellent hands.
We also continued our popular Flashback Friday series, celebrating the rich history of softball in New Zealand. From iconic players to unforgettable moments, these posts remind us why it's important to honour the past as we build toward the future.
