Race 6-Shoe Clinic Series
34 Runners and 9 Volunteers participated in Saturday's Events
The views from the top are spectacular, world class, but on Saturday every participant in our 6th Shoe Clinic Series event had to work hard for the that view. Most runners left from Stirling Point, tackling the grunty approximately 2kms climb to the top of Motupohue. 6 Junior runners took off from Gun Pit Road, covering 1.4kms, a pretty epic feat considering most of them had never completed the distance before.
The start from Stirling Point is nothing short of brutal and by the time the you reach the war bunkers the lungs are already burning. Thankfully there is a brief reprieve before hitting the forest and from that point on the climb is nothing short of spectacular surrounded by native tree's and bird song. That is of course if you can hear the Keru over the sound of your own heavy breathing. Just when you think the top is near, the stairs begin, and yes Lily there are more then 90. Congratulations to every runner who took part.
Queen of the Hill was Kimberley Iversen in a time of 15:35 and this years Princess was Lilly Wiegersma who covered the distance from Gun Pitt Road in an excellent time of 13:27. King of the Hill this year goes to Cayden Sanginiti who ran a blistering 13:54 and our Prince was Luke Dunlea who also ran a time of 13:54.
As always thank you to all our volunteers who helped organize, set up and run the event. Especially our two new volunteers Pip Sutherland and Todd Symon. We love new volunteers!!!
