Kia ora e te whānau, It was great to see everyone at training today, thank you to all who were able to make it and to those who let us know they couldn't be there. A big mihi to Mātua Max for organising One Tree Hill College for us, ka nui te mihi e hoa ; ) UPDATES!! - TRAINING: after MANY efforts to get a field, we have a winner!! Training will be held at Margaret Griffen Park, 16 Griffen Park Road, Mt Roskill starting tomorrow, Monday 28/09 at 6pm. U14s will train on Wednesdays only, with the U16s & U18s training both Mondays & Wednesdays. Thank you to all who offered options & pulled strings, trying to assist us in this process. Players: please make sure you bring boots, water and mouthguards
- U16s TRIAL GAME: with large numbers in the U16s grade, we will be having a trial game to pick the two teams. This will be on Monday 6 October 2025 at training. Please make sure if you are in this grade or if your rangatahi is in this grade, that you come prepared for this.
- GIRLS RUGBY: we are SUPER KEEN to put in an U15s team for the girls section. If you have any daughters, cousins, nieces and their mates keen to play U15s girls Māori rugby for the festival, please register them ASAP and bring them down to training. Girls rugby IS making a comeback at this years tournament and we want our Tāmaki wāhine to be a part of this.
- VENUE CHANGE FESTIVAL #1: with Marist's Dunkirk fields out of action for our first festival, we are now locked in for Rugby Park, Waiuku @ 34 King Street, Waiuku 11th October 2025.
- BUS TO WAIUKU: There will be a bus organised for the trip out to Waiuku like normal - the first pick up will be New Lynn => Carlton rugby grounds => Panmure => Ōtara (if required) => then on to Waiuku. If you need to book a seat on this bus, please reply to this pānui or email aklmaorirugby@gmail.com with number of people, which stop and whether you'll also be on the return bus.
- TEAM CHATS: Coaches & Managers are starting to set these up using Whatsapp. Please make sure you have this downloaded on your phones to make the team comms easy.
- REGISTRATIONS: Everyone MUST be registered, no exceptions. If you are having trouble with this process and need help, please contact us on aklmaorirugby@gmail.com Any PLAYERS, COACHES, MANAGERS & VOLUNTEERS helping in the kaupapa who are not registered, can register here . Coaches and managers will be starting to check these details off from Wednesday.
