Kia ora koutou

Tuatahi, ngā mihi nui ki a koutou for all the patience shown as we've juggled field issues and Rugby Xplorer registration / clearance problems. Our kaupapa relies on us to be flexible and to roll with what comes our way!

Tuarua, we have our first festival game this weekend, please see the relevant details below:

1. Training venue, we have three more trainings before this campaign ends. Weds 08/10, Mon 13/10 & Wed 15/10 at Margaret Griffen Park in Mt Roskill from 6pm to 8pm.

2. Haka practice began on Monday. It's super important that all rangatahi learn at least the kupu. The kupu and video are available through your coaches / managers if you don't have this.

3. Returning whānau know that we support the rangatahi with a rolling kai tent which requires a few of us to pitch in to run and set up. We ask whānau to contribute as follows where you can please and people power on the day too:

  • U14s: baking
  • U16s: snacks, muesli bars, chips packets
  • U18s: bread, fruit, drinks

4. The Waiuku whakatau will be at 9am, we want as many whānau there as possible please.

5. The draw is not yet finalised, this will likely come out on Friday.

6. Uniform will be supplied by Tāmaki Makaurau Whutupōro Māori.

7. If we have any kaikōrero rangatahi in our rōpū who can respond at our whakatau please reply to this pānui or let us know at training.

8. Additionally we are seeking a kaikaranga for the whakatau - please come back to us if you have any whānau who can hold this space for us.

9. We have a bus booked for Saturday to Waiuku, please email aklmaorirugby@gmail.com to book a seat for any whānau who need a seat on this bus or reply to this email

Pick up times:

  • New Lynn bus station 6.45am
  • Carlton Rugby club, Puriri Drive 7.00am
  • Panmure bus station 7.15am
  • Ōtara bus stop outside Maccas 7.30am (Ōtara only if required)

The bus will do the return journey after the rugby has ended (time TBC)

10. Registrations, some players have not completed the final part of the registration process which means we may be missing certain players and contact details. Once clearances are approved you need to complete the final step, some whānau have not done this yet. If you know of any not receiving our comms, please ask them to check this.

11. At this stage we are entering an U14s, U16s Paki Tu, U16s Paki Toa, U18s and we're are really excited to get a kōtiro team together for our U16s wāhine

If you know of any U16s wāhine who would like to play, please get them to register ASAP and send them down to training tonight if they are free.

12. Festival #2 is at Bruce Pulman, same details for whakatau - all of the above applies again but noting the bus times will change.
