PPTA FURTHER STRIKE ACTION

We are advised that the PPTA are planning to take further nationwide industrial action next Wednesday 5 November, by striking between the hours of 1:15pm and 3:15pm. Unfortunately we will not have a sufficient number of non-PPTA members to supervise students and we will therefore need to close the school at 1:15pm on Wednesday. The PPTA will confirm this industrial action is taking place on Sunday afternoon which means we will confirm this through an email to parents and caregivers first thing on Monday morning. Please note that the strike will not affect senior students sitting NCEA exams. We will also confirm on Monday to what extent school buses will be able to collect bus students at 1:15pm on Wednesday 5th. Our apologies for the inconvenience this may cause.

PACANZ

Last week, The Greatest Showman team represented Paraparaumu College at the PACANZ National Competition.

The reception from the audience and judges was phenomenal and we were lucky enough to win a place in the finals.  In the end the team were awarded 10th place out of 70 teams nationwide and won the Spirit of the Competition award, but more importantly we were proud of the team for getting the message of inclusivity across on the national stage.

Congratulations to the whole team and a huge thank you to all who supported the team on their journey to get to Nationals.

NCEA EXAMS

All the very best to our students who are sitting the end of year NCEA exams which commence on Tuesday 4 November.  Senior students have received comprehensive information around exams over the past 2 weeks and key documents have been emailed to them again today. Key points are:

  • Arrive at your exam 30 minutes before it is due to start
  • Have your exam admission slip with you
  • If you are doing a digital exam, make sure that your device is fully charged and that you know the login details for your NZQA student account
  • If you have not yet collected your exam admission slip this is available from the front office. Please collect this as soon as possible.

COLLEGE CANTEEN

The College canteen will be open all day for students involved in exams. We will be open from 8:00am to 2:30pm during the exam weeks. This is a good place to meet up after exams if you want to sit away from the exam rooms.

Students with a credit on Kindo AND are NOT coming back next year are advised to use this credit as this cannot be paid back to a bank account. For students returning next year the credit will roll over.

Some basic stationery items eg pens, pencils etc are available for sale for those ‘just in case’ moments. Plain water bottles are also available.

COLLEGE MAGAZINE

Don’t miss out on capturing this unforgettable school year! Our 2025 School Magazine is now available to preorder for $30 - packed with memories, photos, and stories from throughout the year. Orders can be made and paid for at the front office in Te Manawa. Preorders close 12 November.

ADVANCE NOTICE - STAFF ONLY DAY MONDAY 10 NOVEMBER

Advance notice that we have a staff only day coming up on Monday 10 November.  There will be no classes for students on this day.

The staff only day is one that has been allocated for use by the Ministry of Education, with a focus on planning for the new curriculum requirements that are in place from 2026. Our subject departments will use the day to start aligning their teaching resources with the new material.
