Welcome to the Village Viewpoint sponsored by Gavin and Cassie Murphy and the team at Gee and Hickton Ltd Funeral Directors, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, and Porirua.

Thanks to everyone who came to the AGM on Monday. We had a great turn out at the clubrooms. We thank Steve, Jock and Rachelle for their years of service as they take a step back. For 2026 we welcome our new Patron Andy Leslie, Treasurer Mat Bartholomew, Club Captain Tui Bradbrook and Management Committee members Benny Martin & Brad Newson. As always we thank all of our true blue volunteers who keep rugby thriving in the Village.

Congratulations to our newest life members Gordy Hirtzel and Brent Little. True blue villagers to the core. Thank you for your service to the club over many, many years.

Their decades of service were beautify summarized by Andy Leslie and Murray Blandford respectively. Both recipients received a mighty cheer and embraced by very proud whanau.

A big thank you to our RDO, old boy Mateaki Kafatolu, we would also like to thank the team at Sable for their support this year. Mutz has been awesome this season, really engaged and putting in the hours, even this time of year he’s down the club most days coaching, running various programs, planning for next year, developing coaches, liaising with our juniors at high school and recruiting coaches and players for the future. Cheers Mutz

Thank you Freya our Honorary Solicitor. She has signed on to support us for another year and has been busy recently helping the management committee with a few leasing issues.

The sevens season has come to an end. Our Ponies went down narrowly to a Norths/Ories combined all star team in the grand final, but should be very proud, they played some great expansive rugby, showcasing some amazing skills and scoring some brilliant tries. Naomi Sopoaga's devastating attack and Madi Golds leadership were huge. It was great to see super coach Keira ‘Keith’ Su'a Smith sub herself on in the afternoon! Credit must go to coach Shannon Nightingale and the squad, their success all year is not by chance, they are running up and down North park most nights putting in the mahi.

The men had a great comeback season, led by Premier midfielder Tom Carter they toiled hard in the Upper Hutt sun but missed out on the semi finals. Young Archie and Jacob of the colts were great all campaign. Thanks to Mutz, Marcus and Thompson for coaching. The competition is there for the taking and its a case of what might have been if more of our Prems, Prem reserves and colts star backs would buy in…

We're refreshing our strategic plan and developing a set of short, medium and long term objectives for the Club. Our top priority is making sure these objectives are aligned with the views of our membership, so we need your feedback!

Thanks Stu and the team at Apex print for their loyal support and helping us with the printing of the annual reports for the AGM. Contact them for any of your printing needs.

The drainage work on the rec is complete and cricket will resume in the new year, until then the scars will rest and recover.

We potentially have a few Argentinian sides coming over to play and host late February so stay tuned for that. A good opportunity for us to get together, connect with South American rugby fans and fire up the Barbeque!

Enjoy the sun Villagers and remember to block up!
