Who has the Spotlight fallen down on this month
……………….No --- its not Father Clive this month- it’s POPPA Stu…………………………….
A recipient of many accolades in his lifetime, both in softball and soccer, so is truly worthy of a Spotlight beaming down on him.
A career that has spanned more years than a lot of our members have been alive, or care to remember.
Stuart Kinghorn – known by his friends as Stu, played for Ramblers before moving to Auckland United, then switched back to Ramblers in 1977, where he remained until retiring in 1980.
Stu went on to coach both Ramblers Premier Men, Premier Women, Auckland Women from 1985– 1990 and Auckland Men.
Stu also played for Auckland Softball for 13 seasons, 5 of these as Captain, Manager of Auckland Men for 4 years.
He attended 13 Club Nationals with Auckland United and Ramblers.
As if this is not enough time on the diamond, Stu then took on coaching Mt Albert Grammar softball boys with great success at Secondary Schools Nationals, taking the team to 6 Championships from 2013 - 2018. 2012 finished 3rd 2011 - were Auckland Champions however did not attend Nationals.
In great recognitions of his involvement Stu has received the following awards:

1993 Ramblers Life Member
1995/96 ASA Life Member
1995/96 Recipient ASA Ben Davis Trophy
Stu is father to former White Sox player, Jan, Lynley Evans and Brent.
Stu is a regular at the Club on Friday members night, and of course on the side of the diamonds, especially when his grandchildren are on the diamond.
