ABOUT THE ROLE: 

Cricket Wellington is seeking a passionate individual for the position of Sport Psychologist/Mental Skills Coach for the elite women's pathway, including the provision of support to the successful Wellington Blaze Women's Cricket Team. This exciting opportunity will support Cricket Wellington’s strategic plans in alignment with our continued focus on high-performance and player welfare support. 

This role will be responsible for the provision of on-site and remote performance/mental skills support to our elite female players, including the Blaze, Provincial A and Pathway athletes. 

It is our ambition to see “more people playing and loving cricket” and “more people playing for New Zealand” so to support this we wish to ensure all of our players have access to the support they require to be a high performing athlete.  

This role is a contract position based in Wellington with variable working hours.  

 

KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: 

To apply for this position, you must be smart and ambitious, with a desire to be part of a high-performance sports environment: 

  • Registered as a Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist with the New Zealand Psychologists’ Board OR; has full membership of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors
  • Has experience working within a high-performance sport environment
  • A verifiable record of integrating and working effectively with other performance support staff
  • A proven record in the provision of psychology or mental skills support to athletes and coaches to improve performance
  • Demonstrated commitment to learning, and to adapting approaches in response to feedback
  • A proven record of collaborating with a wider psychology/MST team
  • In possession of a full New Zealand Driver’s Licence
  • Legally entitled to work in New Zealand
