Amogh Paranjpe Awarded 16th Firebirds Contract for 2026/27
The Wellington Firebirds have completed their contracted squad for the 2026/27 domestic season, with promising pace bowler Amogh Paranjpe awarded the side's 16th contract.
The 20-year-old Hutt Districts seamer continues his rise through the Wellington pathway after making his first-class debut in the Firebirds' final Plunket Shield match of the 2025/26 season against Otago. After getting his first taste of domestic cricket, Paranjpe will now look to establish himself at the next level.
A product of Wellington College and Hutt Districts Cricket Club, Paranjpe has impressed throughout the Wellington pathway with his consistency and ability to build pressure with the ball.
He made a number of appearances for the Wellington Provincial A side last summer, finishing with the best economy rate among Wellington seamers in red-ball cricket while recording an outstanding dot-ball percentage of 79.5 percent. In the one-day format, he also ranked equal first among Wellington bowlers with a 75 percent dot-ball percentage.
At club level, Paranjpe claimed 24 wickets in 11 appearances for Hutt Districts during the 2025/26 season, with best figures of 6/35.
Those performances built on an outstanding 2024/25 campaign, when he finished as Wellington's leading wicket-taker at the National Under-19 Tournament before starring in Hutt Districts' Pearce Cup Final victory. Paranjpe took 5/36 and 5/46 at the Cello Basin Reserve to help secure the three-day title.
Firebirds Head Coach Shane Jurgensen said Paranjpe had continued to impress since joining the contracted squad last season.
"Amogh has shown us from the moment he was contracted last season his skill and dedication to his role, and now he has earned the right to continue his progression as a professional cricketer for the Firebirds."
Paranjpe's signing completes the Wellington Firebirds' contracted squad for the 2026/27 domestic season.
