2nd Place Overall for Dio at NZSS Equestrian Horse Trials

Over the weekend of 20th-21st May, we had 5 girls represent Dio at the NZ Secondary Schools Horse Trial Event held at the National Equestrian Centre in Taupo.

Four of the girls represented Dio in the A Level competition and one of the girls competed in a composite team in the A-B grade.

The Dio A Team of Olivia Chitty, Rebecca Davey, Francesca Masfen and Estella Loughlin, were in the A Level competition which started the 2 day event with the dressage component, in the howling rain and wind and even a bit of hail came through to place 2nd.

After the Show Jumping, with a few rails spilled, the girls held a very tight second overall in the A Grade.

Day 2 started with an extremely fresh 1 degree and a bit crispy under foot throughout the Cross Country course, but the girls all the girls rode fantastically, all going clear and only one time fault. It was a tense couple of hours until all results were posted but they held on to claim 2nd place overall for the A Level competition.

Lily Hilary who was part of the Composite team who rode in the A-B Level competition did really well throughout the 2-day event but unfortunately did not manage to place.

We would like to thank all parents who attended and a special mention to our Coach Christen who was again superb with all the girls. We done to all girls riding for Diocesan. You all conducted yourselves extremely well and represented the school with pride.
