Eastern Southland Hunt was formed in 1934 to provide the keen hunters of this area with more accessible and frequent hunting.  Our great Southern tradition of being welcoming and supportive continues to be a strong feature of our hunting family.

Proudly family friendly we encourage young members to fully engage with our hunt.  Our Huntsman Tony Parish enjoys having our field right up with our pack and the kids know many of the hounds by name.  As a part of our annual programme our officials hand over their red coats for a day and the hunt is led by our junior members.

Eastern Southland Hunts over a wide area from the Clutha River to Morton Mains and up into Waikaia.  Predominantly our hunting centres around Gore and Clinton.  Our Hunt is blessed with excellent farmland that we have the privilege of riding over and we are grateful to the generosity of the farmers who allow us access to their properties.

Our season starts in March and closes in early June as the ground conditions dictate and our farmers change grazing practices to manage the Winter months.  During the season Eastern Southland hunt every Wednesday and one or both days of the weekend, predominantly Saturdays.
