With the annual New Zealand Football Awards set to take place next month, a number of AFF Clubs, Players, Coaches and Referees have been nominated in various categories for the annual event.
Onehunga Sports skipper, Joe Dawkins was nominated for the Men's Player of the Year Award and will line up against All Whites, Stefan Marinovic, Winston Reid, Ryan Thomas and Chris Wood, alongside Team Wellington defender, Justin Gulley and Auckland City FC Captain, Angel Berlanga.
Kareem Osman was nominated for Futsal Men's Player of the year and will be up against Lucas Da Silva from Capital and Michael Sannum from Southern United.
In the Women's game, former Eastern Suburbs goal keeper, Erin Nayler, former Three Kings United forward, Rosie White and current Eastern Suburbs Forward Jacqui Hand were all nominated for the Women's Player of the Year award.
Dominating the scene in the Futsal Women's Player of the Year Award, Shivy Anthony and Jess Verdon both made the list of nominations.
After last year's stunning performances in the National Women's League, youngster, Britney Cunningham-Lee is the federation's sole representative in line for the Young Player of the Year Award.
Lining up for the Football Coach of the Year Award, Onehunga Sports Head Coach, Hiroshi Miyazawa has been nominated after his successes last year when the club achieved the double, winning both the Lotto NRFL Men's Premier Division and the ISPS Handa Chatham Cup. Joining him from AFF is last year's National Women's League Head Coach, Gemma Lewis, who led our federation's representative side to to become champions of New Zealand last year.
In the Futsal space, AFF Women's Futsal National League coach, Nic Downes was nominated after being crowned champions of New Zealand, but falling to an Australian side in the final of the competition.
Referee duo, Anna-Marie Keighley and Nick Waldron were both nomianted for the award for Referee of the Year, while Tony Barnes got the nomination for Futsal Referee of the Year.
Onehunga Sports and our NWL side were also nominated for Team of the Year.
