What is National Youth Development League?
National Youth Development League is the pinnacle youth competition in the country and has replaced the National Age Group Tournament in 2022. It is broken into 3 different leagues, Northern League, Central League & Southern League. It is for U17 boys and will take place from August to October.
In the Southern League, 4 representative teams from Dunedin, Southland, South Canterbury & Central Otago will join 8 teams from Mainland to form the 12 team league. This will be broken into two pools of 6 and each team will play 5 games. The team that finishes top of both pools will then qualify for the final series which is held in Auckland during the October School Holidays.
National Youth Development League 2022 | Details
When: Training begins late August and will finish in October School Holidays
Commitment: Players expected to attend training twice a week with one game each weekend for 5 weeks. Games could be Saturday or Sunday and will involve travel
Cost: TBC - expected to be between $300 - $500 per player
All players interested must attend at least one trial in their region. Trial dates are as follows.
Dunedin | Sunday 31 July & Sunday 7 August | Logan Park Turf, Dunedin
Southland | Sunday 24 July | ILT Turf, Invercargill
South Canterbury | Sunday 24 July | Sir Basel Arthur Park, Timaru
Central Otago | Sunday 31 July & Sunday 7 August | Venue TBC
