An important life skill in our digital age is the ability to identify reliable research. One of the Freyberg Year 10 projects has been to research a topic and educate their classmates on it. Below is an example of Zenth McRoberts' work, who focused on overpopulation.

YEAR 10 ESSAY WRITING

An important English skill is formal writing. Freyberg's Year 10 students have an opportunity to practice this skill through a character study. The students below went above and beyond Year 10 essay writing expectations in their close analysis of characters from Taika Waititi's Thor Ragnorok film.

In our Year 9 course, module rima was all about critical thinking. Students were required to consume at least two texts and analyse the connections between them. Below is some mahi from a class which focused on the genre connection of science fiction.

Creative Fiction

Fictional writing is an opportunity for students to let their imaginations go wild! These students have shown their writing skills by building stories using language techniques, imagery, and effective proof reading skills. Kia kaha!

CHARACTER ANALYSIS & PARAGRAPH WRITING

Formal writing is a skill which gets better with practice, which is why our Year 9 students get straight into it in their first year here! The focus is on clearly explaining an idea with supporting evidence. Our Year 9 students have learnt and practiced this skill through the mode of character analysis, and their hard work can be seen below.
