HAKARU BRANCH PONY CLUB

Hakaru Pony Club (Kaiwaka / Hakaru), along with Albertland branch (Wellsford) is part of the Wellsford District Pony Club. They are the northern-most branches of the large Waitemata - Rodney Area Pony Club.

This branch started in 1974, with a small group of dedicated parents who either had a love of horses themselves, or recognized their children loved to ride, and decided the best thing to happen was to have them all together and show them how much fun they can have. We have been on the same Settlement Road grounds since then, but have made enormous improvements.

We have a great cross country course and a big arena. We organise rallies (Wednesday afternoons / evenings), competitions and guest coaches. We have a large adult rider group who meet once or twice a week to ride but the main focus is on our young riders having fun, being safe riding, learning horse management and how to care for their ponies and learning how to be an effective rider. Riders can work towards their certificates which are sat throughout the season.

Please see our FB page for upcoming events.
