HAKARU PONY CLUB

Hakaru Pony Club is the northern-most club and a part of the large Waitemata - Rodney Area Pony Club.

This branch started in 1974, with a small group of dedicated parents who either had a love of horses themselves, or recognised their children loved to ride, and decided the best thing to do was to have them all together and show them how much fun they could have. We have been on the same Settlement Road grounds since then, continually upgrading and improving our facilities. 

We have a great cross-country course and a big sand arena. We organise rallies (Wednesdays), competitions and guest coaches. We have a large adult rider group who meet once or twice a week to ride; however, our main focus is on our young riders having fun, being safe while riding, learning horse management and how to care for their ponies and learning how to be an effective rider. Riders can work towards their certificates and achievement badges, which are set throughout the season.
