Welcome
Let us introduce ourselves, we are Katrina and Michael Winter and this is our 10th season running the Hamilton Touch Module.
We both have a passion for Touch and we love seeing our teams enjoying our module. On Thursday we try to create a good atmosphere each night through good music (so don't be afraid to request songs), good games for all abilities and the odd sausage sizzle. Here is a little bit about ourselves. This year we have introduced a family social grade as playing with our family and friends has been some of the most enjoyable touch experiences we have had.
After a successful touch referee career, Michael attended two Touch World Cups one in Scottland and one in South Africa and has officiated in 12 NZ vs Aus Open Trans Tasman test matches. Michael is currently in the NZ Rugby Referee National Squad and will continue to referee First Class Rugby this season to round out 2021. Michael is employed by the Waikato Rugby Union as the Participation & Development Manager. Throughout the touch season Michael will be available to assist team referees and provide some advice and mentorship to help get your team referee out there and enjoying their referee experience.
Katrina is registered Midwife, working out in the community. She is extremely passionate about her profession and loves supporting women and their families through pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period. She loves sport, and you may sometimes see her out on the touch field (don't judge, never said I was any good), she also loves netball, snowboarding and reading. She likes to cook and will usually make the referees dinner on Thursday nights in thanks for their support.
We have a 6-year-old daughter called Blaire, you may see her around from time to time. She is a fearless little girl full of energy and sass, who loves music, dancing and swimming. We also have Lachlan who is 18months. He is into everything and loves getting stuck into anything. He loves hanging out with his big sister.
