Congratulations to Stewart Alexander for winning the 2023 Men's Handicap Strokeplay Finals played at Putaruru Golf Club on Sunday the 2nd of April.
After a solid morning effort which saw the team take a 5 shot lead into the afternoon 9-holes. This proved to much for the chasing bunch to make up and Stewart Alexander held on for a comfortable 7 shot victory.
Tokoroa Golf Club in 2nd and Piopio Aria Golf Club in 3rd.
All the team at Waikato Golf would like to congratulate the team on winning this prestigious trophy.

History
The Handicap Pennant Competiton is an event conducted by the Waikato Golf Association for Inter-Club competition. Clubs may enter a team of four players on handicap index up to and including 24.0. The Association area has been divided into three zones for the purpose of this competition.
Play will be over two rounds of 27 holes of medal play with all scores from each team to count for each round, the top four teams from each zone plus ties will qualify for a further two rounds of 27 holes. The final two rounds will be played on the same basis as the preliminary rounds however scores from the preliminary rounds will not be carried forward to the finals.
