NORTH HARBOUR HOCKEY UPDATE LOGO

As part of our ongoing search for improvement the Board recently considered whether our branding, and in particular our logo, was fit for purpose. And with our new home nearly ready we felt it was important that if we were to make any changes they would be ready in time for our new start. But because we wouldn’t make significant changes without consulting our hockey whanau we have chosen to just ‘refresh’ and modernise the existing logo.

For background, the existing logo dates back to the formation of North Harbour and was gifted to all sports in the region by North Harbour Sports as a way of quickly forging an identity. But as a consequence, most sports also had the same logo. Gradually most sports have moved to their own unique logos, and we concluded it was right for us to do so as well.

To arrive at the new look we engaged a designer from our own hockey community to look at what could be achieved while retaining the current ‘feel’. After many versions and iterations we have arrived at the logo shown in article photo.

Hopefully it seems familiar to you while appearing fresher and more modern. The “1992” creates a permanent link to our foundation and after some deliberation we have chosen to bring back the “North” for the logo. But don’t worry, its still fine to refer to ourselves at just “Harbour” in conversations.

We are looking forward to creating many more memorable experiences as NORTH Harbour hockey.
