Hastings Artists Group’s latest information.

April meeting: 10am 20th April, Jireh Hall, (rear of church) Frederick Street, Mahora, Hastings.

We intend to have a day when we can paint Autumn-leaves/trees, ANZAC day images (poppies, poppies, and even more poppies?) - or anything else that appeals to you – or carry on with your current art-work.

Please bring ‘for show’ any completed work, especially from last month’s abstract tutorial by Hester – and your lunch if you prefer home-made, or purchase from nearby Mahora shops.   Tea, coffee and biscuits provided.   This cost is included in your hall-fee of $5.

We are so lucky to have a skilled ‘resident’ tutor in Ian Thompson, who is willing to help anyone with any painting problems – whether it be in any medium.  Look for Ian, you can’t miss him, as he’s probably the only male there!

Remember that the club has spare sets of Water-colours, Oils, Acrylics, brushes etc for experimental use by any member (or by new members who may not yet  have decided just what they fancy),  We also have spare easels of varying sizes for the convenience of members on Club Days.

We look forward to seeing you there in our cosy, light and modern hall.

Please make a note of the date on YOUR calendar, Saturday 20th April!

p.s.

We are pleased to report that our Club (HAG) will feature in the 2024 Hawke’s Bay Art-Guide pamphlet/booklet currently under publication.   We hope too, (so that our members have an opportunity to sell their creations)”, that we may be involved in the Hawke’s Bay “Art-Trail” in October.  So be sure to get that paintbrush In your hand NOW!

*Another date to mark on your calendar:

April 29th – May 11th 2024 for Art Hawke’s Bay’s Bostock 2024 Exhibition (Artfully Yours) at “Art Inc”, Russell Street, Hastings

Hastings Artists Group returned to its usual substantial numbers attending special events after nearly four years of the COVID epidemic, which was then finished off with Cyclone Gabrielle.

It was appropriate that our first special event for the year featured the acclaimed Hester van Amelsvoort from the Netherlands, whose undoubted reputation was confirmed with much delight and acclamation.

Sister of our own Winnie, Hester totally captivated and informed those present with snippets of her wide knowledge and advice - seemingly so easily explained,  especially as English  is her second language!    Thank you Hester - we loved your charming manner and presentation.

We couldn’t function as a club without our volunteers.    Special thanks to Diane, Dawn and many others whose efforts are very much appreciated.

See our website www.sporty.co.nz/hastingsartistsgroup for further details (under the “Abstract” tab) for Hester’s written ‘tips and tricks’ and vital ingredients for abstract artists.

My apologies that not all photographs of works today are displayed here – the photographer had a minor/major glitch!
