Rowing
Rowing is a wonderful sport that leaves a lasting impression on all those who pick up an oar. Our program is aimed at providing students with an opportunity to gain a sense of responsibility toward others, self-improvement, time management, enjoyment, fitness and teamwork.
The rowing team is more like a family and we are grateful to have awesome coaches Jason Parris-Oswald, Tim Nelson and Max Calvert (a former Howick College rower) and an extremely supportive parent community.
Howick College rowing has come a long way since the introduction of the sport to the school in 2015 by rowing icon and NZ Rowing Olympic Gold medallist and our coach, the late Dudley Storey OBE, and Keith Hibbard (Hibbo). Year on year we continue to have crews make A or B finals at AON NISS champs or AON Maadi Regatta (Nationals) with crews taking home medals in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2023.
Some of our rowers continue rowing beyond school, we are extremely proud of Dan Williamson NZ Rowing Olympic Gold Medallist who started his rowing career rowing for Howick College in 2015 winning a bronze medal at AON NISS champs.
