Variable speed limits will be operating outside our school from 1^st July 2026 as part of a nationwide road safety initiative. These limits reduce speeds to 30km/h during school drop-off and pick-up times to help keep children safe.

Heretaunga College’s specific variable speed limit operating times are:

Morning             Monday to Friday: 8.10 am to 9.10 am

Afternoon          Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: 2.40pm to 3.30pm and Wednesday: 2.00pm to 2.10pm

When signs are active, drivers must slow down and follow the displayed speed limit. Outside these times, normal speed limits apply.
