The start of 2021 has left us with heavy hearts as we have learnt of the tragic passing of Israel Hoterene-Rakete. Israel, better known as Izzy, was an umpire of HHKNC and over the years we have been so blessed and fortunate to call him a friend of the club.

Izzy was a fierce and extremely dedicated and talented umpire, and was well known as one of the officials you did not want to mess with (and if you did, you quickly learnt not to do it ever again!) But on top of this, he was kind, bubbly, outrageously funny, and would always make your day a little brighter with his beautiful smile and contagious laugh. Anyone who was fortunate enough to be in his presence, will forever be a better person for it.

Our love, thoughts, prayers and sympathies go out to Izzy's whaanau and friends during this extremely difficult time. We will forever remember Izzy and the impact he has had on us all. Our season's will never be the same now that you are not here with us.

Rest in love and peace Israel, you will be forever missed!
