COVIC SHIELD

This is an Association of eleven Golf Clubs for Senior Golfers which has a monthly competition from Counties Manakau and Northern Waikato.
The golf clubs involved are Awhitu, Waiuku, Clarkes Beach, Wattle Downs, Manukau,
Pukekohe, Onwhereo, Waikare, Huntly, Maramanua, and Hauraki.
Matches are generally played one a month.
The Covic Team from each club consists of five players. The best four scores count  - best stableford.
The Papakura Cup players are four in number from each club, playing match play on the same day and only two clubs are invited by drawing opponents. The winning team holds the cup and in the following months is challenged by another drawn club.
The Covic round is split up to a five club and six club teams half way through the competition.
The top six teams start from scratch again as there are no carry over scores.
The bottom five teams start from scratch and play for a winner in their half.
October is the last month of the competition. November is a fun day at a different venue for a closure. this will be held on Wednesday 23rd November at Hauraki.
