Hawarden’s first club day for the 2018 season, saw a chilly winters day. On the last round of

the day saw a match between Hanmer A vs Hawarden A.

Hanmer started strong with centre Jasmine Cuff putting pressure on Hawarden’s midcourt

combination, and was backed up with some accurate shooting which built a significant lead

of 16-3.

The next 2 quarters were better for Hawarden with some great turn overs from centre

Lauren Brinsford, but they were no match for Hanmer’s Bobby Childs great shooting and

circle movement.

In the final quarter Hawarden changed around to put more pressure on Hanmers goal circle,

which proved to be successful and they won that quarter by 4 goals. It still wasn’t enough to

make up Hanmers strong start, the final score was 40-21 to Hanmer.

Saturday 7th July Cheviot

It was a unseasonly warm day for the third round of the championship competition held in Cheviot.  Both Senior games were closely fought out with Culverden Red narrowly defeating Hammer A 31 to 29.  Cheviot A took on Culverden A for a top of the table clash.  Both teams started slowly with a lot of turn over ball which continued throughout the game resulting in a low scoring finish with Cheviot taking the win 23 to 16. Cheviot's Hannah Hutchison had a strong game in the defensive circle and the wealth of experience in the Cheviot team provided the difference between the teams in the end.
