Athlete's cold and flu weapons!

Three vitamins that I highly recommend;

Vitamin C - Make sure you get the Ester-C because it is absorbed by the body faster. I regularly take 1 (1000mg) per day, but the minute there is a tickle in the throat or I'm feeling a bit off, I will take 2-3 for a couple days. Besides being a great immunity booster, vitamin C also aids in muscle repair and a heap of other benefits!

Viralex - This one has all sorts of goodies in it like olive leaf and zinc to boost the body's own immunity. I was first told about Viralex at Ironman camp...when the body gets a rest during taper weeks, it often lowers its defences and you happen to get the very next cold, just before your big event! So this was recommended, and man, did it work! Again, the second I feel a sniffle coming on, I take one Viralex per day for 3 days....gone. I've had no flu or cold for nearly a year now.

Magnesium - The 3rd thing on my recommended list is Magnesium. It's every athlete's secret weapon! Magnesium is fabulous for relieving joint pain and relaxing those muscles when you've been doing it hard at the gym or bootcamp or spin - it helps cramps and even kick-starts the energy production process for spent muscles. If you're generally feeling out of energy, it could be that you need some magnesium fast!

NOTE: Oral magnesium can make you go to the toilet more often! So there are also balms to go on your skin instead, which are also very effective.
