TWO OF OUR TOP SPONSORS - Life Pharmacy and McDonalds Rotorua

Both of these businesses have talented, fabulous, strong women running them, and that refers to both their personalities AND their running ability within our group!

Life Pharmacy in the Mall have sponsored many a newbie into gear and events over the years, and continues to give our JTP members a discount on magnesium for your running health needs. Both owners and their children have taken part in many JTP training sessions and events, and love supporting other beginners.

McDonalds have also more recently joined the team - they are one of Rotorua's top employers of young school-leavers, and is the best place ever for a toddlers birthday! They also support health and wellbeing, with donations to assist other beginners, and several of the owner's family are also currently training for their first triathlons with JTP.

Let's share the love and support both these businesses when you are next in town!

GYM SESSIONS

Waikite Gym, Josh Te Kowhai does 3 morning classes a week and 2 classes at night at 5.15 or 5.30. He's great. He does weights, circuit, plyometrics, running, sprint work, tabata, stretch classes. He does all sorts of crazy stuff but he's great. His contact details are 021 049 2631. Natalie Richards will support my korero. Cheap fees as well and in about a month he will most probably do similar classes to Bootcamp. Tanya Hemara.

OSTEOPATH:

The most lovely Osteopath ever...if you've got a tight back or pinching hip, or one of the kids moaning about this pain or that, GO SEE KATE!! She is honestly the nicest person ever and she loves kids so they feel really comfortable with her. What's an Osteo? They treat your muscles AND your bones (like a masseuse and a physio and a chiropractor in one) In real words, you get a massage AND a bone adjustment if required. And she does ACC so you can go straight to her without seeing your doctor first. Get in touch via phone 021303991 or mail [email protected]

PHYSIO:

The most highly recommended is Anthony Croucher of GoPhysio (ex-the Physiotherapy Clinic). He understands you want to be out there training again ASAP, and will do whatever he can to make that happen - he also tells it like it is - honestly! There is also Doug and Tracey who are also great and have had good feedback. Plus the GoPhysio Clinic give us JTP members a discount, and also manage a cash-back system for our club. GoPhysio, 1221 Haupapa St, 07 347 8380 "For the 3 different injuries I went to him (Ants) for over the years, I only needed the single session - he gave me a thorough diagnosis, recovery plan, and specific exercises - and they all worked." Kerris Browne.

They physios at QE are also recommended by our members, but often there is a longer waiting period - "Can't believe it that after all that back pain plaguing me for a while following an injury all of the pain has gone!!. Thanks to QE hospital physiotherapy and acupuncture especially Anthony!!! You rock bro!!! Went for a run around long mile, radio hut, did hill repeats and 7.5 km and it felt great...Highly recommend QE physiotherapy and you don't need a doctors referral...." Keith Walmsley

DOCTORS:

The Three Lake Clinic is a group of lady doctors that also understand we want to back on our feet as soon as possible, and really care about the fact that women lead extremely busy lives and need to look after themselves just that little bit more. Katie Snyman is a runner herself, and understands runner's needs.

MASSEUSE:

Toni Collins of Touch Massage has a team of 3 to keep up with the demand from us runners and walkers! Nothing better than a nice deep-tissue massage a couple days after and event....prices around $70 for an hour. 027 297 1002.

Jessie London is a newly qualified masseus, but who does amazingly deep sports massages. She also supports JTP and give our group a decent discount - only $50 for an hour! Contact Jess on 027 8114679 or [email protected]

Amie Blasoni, 021 450 556 - does the most amazing sports massages; based in Pilates Focus (centre of town in old brick westpac building) and highly recommend to all - by Heather Lang. Also confirm recommendations from Mere Attwater and Vicki Wheeler.

BIKE SERVICING:

"Hi Kerris (from Happy Ewe Cycling),

I hope you’re having fun on the mountain today! Glad the sun is shining. I am pleased to offer the following deals for Jogging The Powerpoles;

  • A basic SERVICE includes a gear and brake tune, wheel truing, bearing check, and light cleaning is normally $55-$60 in labour. Any parts needed are additional. $45 for JTP.
  • The seat bag KITS I have put together include an Ontrack Wedge saddle bag $29, a BBB ‘Easyroad’ mini pump $54, an Ontrack 10-in-1 multi-tool $25, 2 x Park tyre levers $8, and 2 x spare tubes $20, retails total $136, but with a 15% discount for you guys, comes to $115.60. There is also an optional CO2 inflator that I can add for $29.75.
  • I can order other PARTS from most major brands. If I can, I’ll price-match for JTP. If I can’t I’ll point you in the right direction for who to order from.
  • A basic bike FITTING - I’ll spend 30-45 minutes with someone and normally charge out about $50, but for JTP I would only charge $35. Includes saddle adjustments (height, fore/aft, and angle) for pedalling efficiency and comfort. I’ll also make any necessary cockpit adjustments that I can - bar and stem angle, brake position, etc. Many riders need different stems, and I can recommend options. A basic stem costs about $45 new. I can help with the basics and give new riders a good starting point, but it is not a pro fit, which as you know is much more detailed and involved ($200+).

Let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers, Ezra"

David Bowden in Cambridge is awesome. He'll analyse your bike and form, and be able to accurately modify your position to perform better and more comfortably. From moving the cleats on your shoes, to adjustment of your handlebar hoods, even little tweaks on the bike can save your calves for the run! He takes about 2 hours per fit, and charges $220 for the first bike, plus any parts/accessories that may be recommended. Contact is 021 470122, [email protected]

"After Dave fit my tri bike, I had no more knee pain from the bike at all. Plus I able to run off the bike much easier now, thanks to a slightly lower seat height taking the strain away from my calves. I highly recommend the investment!" K Browne Jun 2017.
