This area runs from the saddle at the top of Thompsons Track through to the junction of the North South, Te Tuhi and Ngamarama Tracks.

August 2022 warning - DOC has implemented a track closure on the Kauritatahi Hut Track because of a significant slip where the track sidles Ngatamahinerua, just before the saddle where the track turns to the east.
