STUDENT AND VEHICLES AT SCHOOL

All students enrolled at Kaitaia College who bring a motor vehicle to school MUST complete a Driver Application form to be permitted to do so.  If they are a passenger in a car, driven by a student enrolled at Kaitaia College, then they must fill out a Passenger Application form to be able to travel in that student's motor vehicle.

Applications forms are available from the student centre.

This is an annual application. Therefore, if you completed one in the previous year you will need to complete one for the current year.

The applications must be completed and handed back to the student centre on or before Friday, 5th March. Failure to complete this requirement will mean students will not have permission to bring a vehicle to Kaitaia College or be a passenger in a vehicle driven by an enrolled student.

A check of application forms and car registration numbers will be made during the week starting Monday, 8th March. Any questions, see Mr Small.

Normal NZTA rules and regulations apply.

NEW ZEALAND CLASS 1 DRIVER LICENCE CREDITS

"The New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence unit standards are available to learners enrolled in a school or registered tertiary education organisation (TEO) which holds consent to assess for the ‘Driver Licence Class 1’ domain.

There are three standards:

  • 29363 - Learn to drive a vehicle within the conditions of a Class 1 New Zealand learner driver licence
  • 29364 - Drive a vehicle within the conditions of a Class 1 New Zealand restricted driver licence
  • 29365 - Drive a vehicle within the conditions of a Class 1 New Zealand full driver licence

There are a total of eight credits from these three standards that can count towards learners’ achievement of NCEA and other qualifications on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework (Two at Level 1 and six at Level 2).

Process for learners

Once a learner has gained their Class 1 Driver Licence, they can be awarded these standards and gain credits on their Record of Achievement through a ‘recognition of prior learning’ process". NZQA Website

Kaitaia College students can download and complete the NZTA Class 1 Driver Licence – Recognition of Prior Learning (PDF, 196KB) form and hand it, along with their official photographic licence, to the Student Centre or Main Office for Mrs Subritzky, or Ms Sue Flanagan (Gateway Co-Ordinator) to process and lodge against their Record of Achievement.
