NSSSA Show-jumping 13th February

With only one Kaitaia College rider available to attend this event, we were lucky to have other riders from our rohe to make up a team.

Team captain was Olivia Chuck (year 10) with Katie Matuschka (year 9, Te Kura Correspondence School),

Laura Wagner (Home-schooled), Tamzyn Howell (year 7, Ahipara Primary School) joining in to make a

Kaitaia Combined team.

All four girls had a great day out riding in huge classes - 35 riders in the 60cm class, 50 riders in the 80cm class - and all four showed significant improvement in their riding over the two rounds. Olivia was our highest placed rider, achieving eighth place in Round One and a fourth ribbon in Round Two.

Many thanks to Mac MacPherson who was the Team Coach, Daina McPherson as the team Mum, and Antje Wagner as team helper. Also a huge thank you to Heather Deane and Sport Northland for running the event and ASB for their sponsorship.

The next event for the Kaitaia College Equestrian Team is the NSSSA Combined Training on Friday, 29 March in Kaikohe. Riders will complete one dressage test and one round of show-jumping (lowest height 70cm).

Any riders wishing to sign up for this event should see Mrs Chuck.
