Our school hosts international students and is a signatory to the Education (Pastoral Care of International Students) Code of Practice 2016 (the Code).  As a signatory to the Code, we strive to protect international students and provide them with a positive experience that supports their educational achievement.

Kaitaia College provides:

▪ places for fee paying students who wish to attend our school
▪ immersion in mainstream classes
▪ pastoral care of International students that complies with the Education.

International students receive a full initial orientation appropriate to our school and the student's age, as well as ongoing orientation to aspects of New Zealand life and culture.

International students aged 10–17 years may live in the care of a residential caregiver if certain conditions, specified in the Code of Practice, are met.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Our school has comprehensive Health, Safety, and Welfare policies that also apply to international students. We take great care to ensure that all our students study in a safe environment. We inform international students about health and safety issues, and how to access health and support services, through our orientation processes.

We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being, as far as is reasonably practicable, of students, employees, and visitors both at school and when away from the school on school business.

ENROLMENT PROCESS

After receiving information to support their decision to enrol, international students are invited to complete an enrolment application. The international student tuition agreement (contract) formalises these and other conditions. Further agreements may also apply, such as the designated caregiver agreement.
