Registered (School) Nurse

Kelston Girls’ College is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Registered Nurse (1.0FTE) to join our Hauora team for a fixed term 12 month maternity leave cover. 


About you:

  • You understand and honour the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and have the ability to work in a culturally informed way in our diverse kura
  • You have an interest and respect for working with rangatahi in the positive and friendly manner
  • Have a current NZ Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Have a minimum of 5 years post graduate experience
  • Have a postgraduate qualification in Youth Health (or be prepared to work towards this)
  • Be able to work independently as the sole registered nurse for the school, working in collaboration with the 0.1FTE school GP
  • Be experienced in working well within a multidisciplinary team
  • Have experience using Medtech Evolution (or be prepared to work towards this)
  • Be digitally competent and demonstrate excellence in written and oral community skills
  • Have a current full drivers licence


The RN at Kelston Girls' College is clinically supported by a Nurse Educator from Te Puna Manawa HealthWEST as well as having clinical support from the School GP. Monthly clinical supervision and school nursing cluster group support is also provided. Within the role, there are 17 different Standing Orders and 3 Nurse Initiated Medications for the nurse to work under, with the aim to reduce barriers for students. The nurse has access to ordering labs and referring to other services for further care. School nurses work at the top of their scope, identifying risk and need, working in collaboration with others and providing treatments as required. Experience in HEEADSSS assessments, mental health, trauma informed care and sexual health is an advantage.


We are looking for a full time position including during the school holidays to cover this maternity leave, but will consider part time for the right person. The successful applicant will be required to undergo satisfactory police vetting.

Fixed Term Part-Time Sports Coordinator (Maternity Leave Cover - 10 Months)

Kelston Girls’ College is looking for an energetic and innovative Sports Coordinator (maternity leave cover - 10 months fixed term) to join our team and organise our College sports.

About you:

  • You understand and honour the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and have the ability to work in a culturally informed way in our diverse kura, including incorporating indigenous sports into our sporting calendar

  • You are passionate about sport and the value that sporting opportunities can have on our rangatahi

  • You will be highly collaborative working with ākonga, their whānau, our staff, and community agencies

  • You have exceptional organisational skills and a proven ability to manage multiple priorities 

  • You are able to communicate effectively and professionally, and have the ability to think creatively and problem solve

  • You have a Full New Zealand drivers licence

    Hauora Team Administrator

    Kelston Girls’ College is looking for a Hauora Team Administrator to join our kura.  This role involves providing full administration support to all members of the Hauora Team.

    Te reo Māori teacher

    Kelston Girls College is looking for a dynamic, forward thinking teacher of Te Reo Māori to work within Te Wheke, the bilingual pathway.  This role meets the criteria for the Maori Immersion Teacher Allowance (under the Secondary Teachers' Collective Agreement).

    The school has implemented project based integrated modules of learning and we are looking for a Te reo Māori language specialist to champion the development of language and culture in the bilingual pathway.  The school has joined the mana kura programme alongside Te Kawerau ā Maki and the Te reo Māori position would work with the senior leadership team on guiding the development of the programme.

    Kelston Girls College is looking for an inspiring assistant leader of Te Wheke to help us build the language and cultural pride of our students. We want to develop bilingual language strength and pride in the student’s own culture so that they can take the skills and strength into the workforce or into higher education and be confident in who they are. 

    The school has implemented project based integrated modules of learning and we are looking for a language specialist to help lead the development of language and culture in the bilingual pathway.  The leader could be a Te Reo Māori specialist, Gagana Samoa specialist or Lea Faka Tonga specialist.  

    Te Wheke are a dynamic and dedicated team of Kaiako and need a dynamic and enthusiastic assistant leader to ensure they are well supported. 

    The teaching position is permanent and the units are fixed term.
