Kereru Netball Club 2025 Committee

Lisa Ewan

I work full-time at Salcom as an Operations Manager and have been in the electronics industry for 29 years. Sports have been a cornerstone of my life from a young age, shaping my values and sense of community. I’ve played for Kereru Prem B for many years and captained the team, and this year proudly marks my 26th year with Kereru, where I am honoured to be a life member. In addition to playing, I’m passionate about giving back through volunteering. I currently serve as President of Kereru Netball Club, a role that allows me to help guide and grow the club while supporting our players and teams. Coaching is another avenue where I contribute, working with players to develop their skills and confidence. Watching individuals and teams grow is one of the most rewarding parts of my involvement in netball. My hobbies reflect my love for staying active and competitive. I enjoy tennis, basketball, downhill mountain biking, and keeping fit at the gym or boxing at Boxfit Brothers - a fantastic way to recharge. I also love board games like backgammon, euchre, and 500, always embracing the thrill of a good challenge. Beyond work and hobbies, my volunteer work as President and coach has allowed me to make a difference in my community, building a sense of teamwork and connection among players, families, and supporters. At home, I have the devoted support of my patient husband Doug, and together we share our lives with our two boys, Charlie and Sam, as well as our beloved fur baby Ruby. My netball family is also a big part of my life, and I treasure the connections and memories we’ve built over the years.

Sarah Wenborn

Sarah Wenborn (nee Carr) is the HR Manager at Mortlock McCormack Law, a firm she loves and has worked with for more than 20 years. Sarah loves spending time with her beautiful family – especially story, song and dance time with her three young daughters Winnie, Poppy and Maddi and dinner dates with her husband Matt. Sarah also loves dominating in all board/card games (Catan and Monopoly Deal being some of her favourites), and enjoys travel, good food a cheeky drink and a laugh with friends. Kereru has been a massive part of Sarah and her family’s life, having been involved with the club for 20+ years in every capacity - player, coach, manager, sponsor (Irvine Wenborn Investment Partners and RoadRubber Tyres) and Committee Member. Sarah was on the Kereru Committee organising its 50th Anniversary Celebrations in Easter 2023 and became a Life Member of Kereru Sports & Culture Club in 2023.

Rebecca Carr

Hi, I'm Rebecca. I have played and coached with Kereru for over 20 years, as Kereru Netball is a huge part of my family. I am taking some time away from coaching this year and will be working more in our club's junior netball space. I am also looking to strengthen my coaching in other areas when I return to coach. I enjoy watching this club grow and being a part of people's netball journey. I love meeting our club members and their families and hearing about your story. Away from netball, I have 2 children and 1 on the way and a partner who I enjoy spending time with, making memories and enjoying life.

Fiona Ross

I work full-time at KMD Brands Ltd (owner of Kathmandu and Rip Curl) as Group Head of People Projects. I have been at KMD Brands/Kathmandu for the past 10 years. Outside of work, Hamish (also on the committee) and I have a beautiful son, Edward (Teddy), and I am currently pregnant with our second. I have been with Kereru for over 12 years, mostly in a playing capacity, but this year as an Assistant Coach of the Kereru C team. I am also the Treasurer of Christchurch Men’s and Mixed Netball Association, as well as managing both the Men’s A team at Nationals last year and the Mixed B team for 2024/2025.

Chic Templeton

I work full-time at Pinnacle&Co Ltd, an Advertising Agency, as an Office/Production Manager for the past 17 years. Outside of work, I’m fortunate to have a supportive husband, Paul, and my daughter Shontelle (18), who shares our passion for netball and is also on the Kereru committee and our pet dog, Boof (11), and cat, Bubbles (16).
Netball has always been my passion and a central part of my life. I’ve been a proud member of the Committee for the past 7 years and have had the privilege of coaching Junior teams for the past 7 years. This year marks my third season coaching our E team. I’ve also had the honour of managing teams at the national level, including a Men’s team last year and a Mixed Team for this year’s Nationals in Christchurch. Previously, I have also managed our Premier A team for the past 5 years. Spending Saturdays at the courts is where you will find me supporting and cheering on our talented teams, watching them grow, and contributing to our amazing netball community.

Jo Carmichael

For the past twelve years, I have worked in Insurance, currently leading a team of insurance consultants which keeps me busy and on my toes. I have an 18-year-old daughter, fur baby Shadow, and husband Paul at home. I've been on the Kereru Netball Committee for 5 years now, which I love. Who knew organising a netball season took so much work!! This season I am managing 2 netball teams, which I thoroughly enjoy doing, but absolutely no coaching for me, that is not my forte!

Sara Lyman

I have been with The Property Boss Ltd for the past eight years, where I have gained extensive experience across various roles, including accounts, receptionist, personal assistant, property manager, and even hands-on tasks such as maintenance and cleaning. As a single mother to a very active 16-year-old, who is deeply involved in dance and netball, I have developed strong time management and organisational skills. Outside of work, I am passionate about gardening, which provides me with a valuable opportunity for relaxation and personal reflection. I have been a member of the committee for the past five years and have successfully managed multiple teams during my time. My experience has allowed me to develop a versatile skill set and a deep understanding of both operational and people management. Additionally, I enjoy staying active and participating in sports, although I don’t find as much time to run around the court these days.

Emma Johnson

Along with a lot of the current committee members Kereru is in the blood. My Mum, brother, sister and daughter have all played for Kereru over the years and this year we are all here at the club playing or coaching together! This year I’m coaching a year 7 team which includes my daughter Summer. She started playing for the club when she was 4 and after a few tears learned to love it. Pretty sure I’ve gotta be the longest-standing D team member. Playing back when the team was in 2A all the way to its newest position in Senior 1 this year!! It’s been a journey, but the plan is to have that 4th Kereru Prem team next year I love everything about this club. Kereru has a huge family vibe which is what I love the most. I’ve grown up here and can’t wait to watch all our junior K-birds do the same.

Ali Doig

I'm a stay-at-home mum to my two daughters Arabella and Sienna. In my spare time, I also do some finance contracting work. I have a big passion for netball, especially coaching and have been involved with many teams across Christchurch over the past 10 years. Kereru has been a big part of my journey having been involved as a premier player and coach. Most recently coaching the Kereru Premier 2 team in 2024. I’ve been a part of the Committee for 4 years and love the lifelong friends I’ve made through the club and watching the young talent grow each year. My family is often travelling abroad with my partner Sean’s rugby, therefore, I’ve taken a step back from coaching and playing but look forward to getting back involved in the years to come.

Bronwyn Charteris

I have been involved with Kereru netball for 10+ years. I have played netball for the 2a and social teams. I joined the committee around 8 years ago as I loved playing for the club and wanted to help out.

Wilson Rota

I have a beautiful family - Mum (Chic), Dad (Paul), Dog (Boof), and cat (Bubbles). Netball has always been my greatest passion. For the past seven years, I have been an active member of Kereru Netball, contributing as a player, coach, umpire, and junior committee member. Lately, my enthusiasm for umpiring has grown significantly. I hold a CNC Zone Badge and am proud to have joined the umpire development squad this year.

Taylor Begg

Hey, I’m Taylor! I’m 16 and in Year 12 at school. I’ve been playing netball since I was 8, and this is my 6th year with the club. I’ve been on the committee for 4 years now. I live with my mum, Sara (she’s on the committee too), and our dog, Star. I love dancing and playing netball! My go-to positions are GS, GA, GK, and GD. These days, I don’t get to play much because of school and other commitments but I still love watching games or filling in when I can.
