Once a term, usually in week 5, Kiwi holds a ribbon night. This is a fun race evening held instead of the regular Tuesday club night coaching session and is primarily for club night main pool swimmers, although all are welcome to participate, including registered parents. Races are swum in the main pool deep end so swimmers need to be able to confidently swim a minimum of 25m without stopping.
Ribbon night times are recorded for each swimmer in their choice of strokes and distances:
- Freestyle: 25m, 50m, 100m
- Backstroke: 25m, 50m, 100m
- Breaststroke: 25m, 50m, 100m
- Butterfly: 25m, 50m, 100m
- Individual Medley: 100m
If the swimmers time betters their previous time, then they are awarded a Personal Best (PB) ribbon.
Parents are required to assist as timekeepers on ribbon nights. Support and training (it's very easy) is provided.
The term 3 ribbon night doubles as our Club Championship night.
