Kuranui College is a Y9-13 co-educational secondary school located in Greytown in the South Wairarapa. The college has a roll of around 800 students; these students come from Featherston, Martinborough, Greytown, Carterton and Masterton. The majority of students bus to school.

Our motto is ‘Tatau, Tatau’ - ‘we are all one’. We have 12 contributing primary schools and are proud of the diversity represented amongst both staff and students.

The position

We are seeking an experienced educational leader who can take the college to its next level of achievement and development.  The South Wairarapa is experiencing population growth, and our unique Ignite curriculum is a major factor in our extraordinary roll growth.  We are riding the crest of a wave and have embarked on an ambitious property development programme to support our growth.  

Our students come from diverse backgrounds which reflect our catchment area – rural/semi-rural and small town yet their drive and aspirations mirror any other student in Aotearoa New Zealand.   Our school is at the heart of our community so engagement with parents/ whānau is critical to our success.

The ideal person

You will need to have proven experience to lead and manage a large team and have well developed interpersonal and strategic planning skills.  You will also require pedagogical leadership to further develop the learning environment and curriculum for our students to flourish and excel.

You will require the ability to develop strong connections to the wider education and business community to give students opportunities for authentic, real-life learning experiences.  You will also have had success building relationships with iwi and rural communities.
