In 1984 Mark Webster moved to Christchurch from
Dunedin, as a green belt, and was a founding member of the Christchurch Dojo when it was established by Sempai Russell May in 1985. In 2004 Sensei Mark Webster took over as head instructor and relocated the Dojo to Hornby. "There are many styles of martial arts in Christchurch, but Kyokushin stands out as the STRONGEST KARATE" says Sensei Webster. "Most of our students train from a desire to test their limits, and be the best they can be. Our training allows them to develop in every aspect of their lives, not just teaching them to punch, kick and block"
Sensei Mark Webster has trained extensively in Europe and the UK, as well as in New Zealand and Australia since 1982. Together with his other instructors, the dojo trains men, women, and children, in all aspects of karate, from the age of 8 years and upwards. We also cater for the older student, with a number of our students over 50 and one of our black belts now over 60.
