Our school weeks are very busy as we grow as young learners, discovering and having fun along the way.
We are always excited to share our learning with you too.
Please enjoy popping into this site to catch up with what is happening as our year unfolds.
Some of our weekly highlights are:
Monday
Library day.
We love our beautiful library. We enjoy choosing picture books and we especially like to take home non-fiction books about our favourite interests.
Sometimes we get to use the COW (Computers on wheels) with our Buddy class too. This is so much fun!
Spending time with our 'Ruma Ono' buddies.
Our 'bigger' seniors especially look out for us in the playground. We get to share our learning with each other and to join together for many wider school activities.
Wednesday
Junior School Assembly
Wednesday mornings at 9.05am in the school hall. You are welcome to join us.
Our classes take turns leading the assembly. This is a great chance for us to share our favourite learning and to acknowledge the 'star card' people of the week.
Once swimming stops, 'Jump Jam' will follow each assembly. So please stay on and join in the fun.
Friday
Whole School Assembly
Each Friday morning at 9am in the school hall. Parents and whanau are always welcome to these gatherings.
'Friday Fun' Junior Discovery time 9.30am to 10.45am.
'Fun Friday' is a specially planned time, where the whole Junior syndiate gets to come together. Choosing activities in other classrooms, sharing ideas, creating, problem solving and have fun working alongside our friends from other classrooms.
We all agree that 'Fun Friday' is sooo much fun!
Of interest:
Our New Entrant classrooms run a discovery learning based program that purposely links the Early Childhood Curriculum (Te Whariki) with the New Zealand Primary Curriculum. We believe this gives the children a smooth and developmentally appropriate start to their school life. The children are supported in gaining the following key competencies.
These are capabilities for living, growing and lifelong learning.
The New Zealand Curriculum identifies five key competencies:
- Thinking
- Using language, symbols and texts
- Managing self
- Relating to others
- Participating and contributing
At Lucknow School we are always striving to be:
KIND, HONEST and ACTIVE learners
Kind (kia atawhai), Honest (Kia pono), Active (kia ngangahau)
Te mana ka kai i te miro, nona te ngahere.
Te manu ka kai i te matauranga, nona te ao.
The bird that partakes of the berry, he is the forest.
The bird that partakes of knowledge, his is the world.
Please pop in to share in our learning whenever you get the chance.
Kind regards Nicki and the Wonderful One children
