Hawke's Bay Magpies confirm returning players for 2026 NPC Season

The Hawke’s Bay Magpies have confirmed 20 returning players who are currently contracted for the 2026 NPC Season, with a mix of experience and emerging talent set to form the foundation of the squad.

The returning squad brings plenty of experience, with players including Jacob Devery, Geoff Cridge, Folau Fakatava, Neria Fomai, Kianu Kereru-Symes, Lincoln McClutchie and Jonah Lowe, who have all played key roles in the Magpies’ success in recent seasons.

The squad will also welcome back Tyrone Thompson and Connor McLeod, adding further depth and experience. Thompson returns home following a stint with the Newcastle Knights to play in the NRL, where he played alongside his brother Leo Thompson. McLeod returns to the fold after time with the Utah Warriors and Southland Stags.

New signing, Bailyn Sullivan will add excitement and a attacking threat for the backline, joining his brother Zarn Sullivan in the squad.

With further signings expected to be announced over the coming days, the final 2026 Magpies squad will be confirmed following the conclusion of the Furnware Premier Club Rugby season. A number of emerging players will continue to push their case for selection through strong club performances.
